At Dr. Dog, rescue is only the beginning. Every dog who arrives at our shelter comes with a story – and with the need to feel safe again.
Since opening our shelter in Limpio, Paraguay, in 2020, we have provided rescued dogs with individualized care, proper nutrition, veterinary attention, and, above all, the time and patience to heal.
We know our dogs by name. We learn their personalities, follow their medical needs, celebrate their progress, and give them the stability of knowing they will not be abandoned again.
Some may one day find a responsible adoptive family. For others, Dr. Dog may remain home for life.
Medical attention, prescribed treatments, monitoring, parasite control, and referral to external veterinary clinics when specialized care is needed.
Safe shelter, dependable nutrition, clean living spaces, and consistent care for every dog under our protection.
Patient human interaction, physical and emotional recovery, socialization, and preparation for responsible adoption when the right home becomes available.
Support from individuals, companies, and organizations helps Dr. Dog meet those needs responsibly and provide continuity of care for the dogs who depend on us
A Safe Place Is Only the Beginning
A shelter is not defined only by its walls. It is defined by what happens inside them every day.
At Dr. Dog, every meal, veterinary visit, medication, clean sleeping area, reassuring touch, and moment of companionship is part of a larger promise: no dog in our care will be forgotten.
Our dogs live in protected spaces with access to shade, sunlight, clean water, feeding areas, and room to move according to their health, temperament, and individual needs.
When specialized examinations, diagnostic testing, surgery, or advanced treatment are needed, we work with external veterinary providers to obtain the appropriate care.
Our goal is not simply to keep dogs safe. It is to help them live with comfort, dignity, and the possibility of a better future.
Every dog is treated with respect, regardless of age, medical condition, behavior, or adoptability. Dr. Dog follows a no-kill philosophy and remains committed to humane, long-term care.
Each dog receives a name, identification, an individual record, and ongoing monitoring of medical treatments, medications, health, and behavior.
Recovery may include medical treatment, physical healing, socialization, emotional trust-building, and preparation for responsible adoption. For some dogs, Dr. Dog becomes their permanent home.
