What Began With One Decision Became a Promise
“Cuando empecé con Dr. Dog, nunca lo imaginé simplemente como un lugar donde los perros pudieran quedarse. Quería que fuera un lugar donde un perro que ya había conocido el abandono, el miedo, la enfermedad o el descuido pudiera finalmente sentir que alguien no lo iba a dejar.”
Con el tiempo, esa responsabilidad se volvió profundamente personal. Conozco a cada uno de nuestros perros por su nombre, y su confianza lo es todo para mí. He asumido su bienestar como una responsabilidad personal: protegerlos, cuidarlos y asegurarme de que nunca más se sientan abandonados.
Algunos de ellos tal vez algún día encuentren su propia familia. Otros pasarán el resto de sus vidas con nosotros. Para mí, eso no les resta valor. El Dr. Dog es mi compromiso con ellos: mientras estén bajo nuestro cuidado, tendrán comida, atención médica, protección, dignidad y un lugar al que pertenecer.
Este trabajo no siempre es fácil, pero cada vez que los miro, recuerdo por qué continuamos. Dependen de nosotros y nuestra intención es estar aquí para ellos.

Our Story
Dr. Dog began in Paraguay in 2020 with a simple dream: to create a safe home for dogs rescued from the streets — a place where they could leave fear, hunger, and abandonment behind and begin again. Little by little, that dream took shape as the shelter grew and more dogs found safety within it.
Each dog arrived with a different story. Some recovered and found families of their own. Others stayed and made Dr. Dog their permanent home. Some are no longer physically with us, but remain forever part of our story. Every one of them mattered, and every one was given care, protection, and the chance to live with dignity.
The photographs on this page reflect that journey — from the early days of the project to the shelter Dr. Dog has become today. What started as a small dream has grown into a model no-kill shelter in Paraguay, built on compassion, responsibility, and the belief that every rescued dog deserves safety and a future. Today, Dr. Dog also has a nonprofit presence in the United States, strengthening our commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship.
Our story is still being written. With the dedication of our founder, the people who care for our dogs every day, and the support of those who believe in our mission, we hope to continue growing and helping more abandoned dogs. Because every new chapter begins the same way: with one more life given a chance.

Dr. Dog Animal Shelter operates in Limpio, Paraguay, through Asociación Civil SEBRA. Its work is supported internationally by Non-Profit Dr. Dog Inc., a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
We are committed to using charitable support for its intended purpose and to providing appropriate documentation, financial information, photographs, project updates, and evidence of impact when requested by donors and partners.
Our responsibility is both to the people who place their trust in Dr. Dog and, above all, to the dogs whose lives depend on consistent care.
Non-Profit Dr. Dog Inc. is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organization (EIN: 85-0676030) that supports the Dr. Dog animal shelter in Paraguay.
Local shelter operations are carried out through Asociación Civil SEBRA.
