What Began With One Decision Became a Promise
When Dr. Dog began, I never imagined it simply as a place where dogs could stay. I wanted it to be a place where a dog who had already known abandonment, fear, illness, or neglect could finally feel that someone was not going to leave.
Over time, that responsibility became deeply personal.
I know each of our dogs by name, and their trust means everything to me. I have taken their well-being as a personal responsibility: to protect them, care for them, and make sure they never feel abandoned again.
Some of them may one day find a family of their own. Others may spend the rest of their lives with us. To me, that does not make their lives any less valuable.
Dr. Dog is my commitment to them: that as long as they are under our care, they will have food, medical attention, protection, dignity, and a place where they belong.
This work is not always easy, but every time I look at them, I am reminded why we continue.
They depend on us. And we intend to be here for them.

Our Story
Dr. Dog began with a simple but deeply personal conviction: a dog who has experienced abandonment, neglect, illness, or other difficult circumstances deserves more than temporary relief.
That dog deserves the time, care, and protection needed to truly recover.
The foundation for this work was created in Paraguay through Asociación Civil SEBRA, and in 2020 the Dr. Dog Animal Shelter began operating in Limpio as a protected place where vulnerable dogs could heal and rebuild trust.
Today, the dogs in our care depend on Dr. Dog for reliable food, clean shelter, veterinary attention, medications, monitoring, rehabilitation, and compassionate human care.
Some may eventually join responsible adoptive families. Others may remain under our protection because of age, health, behavior, or the absence of a suitable home.
Recovery is different for every dog. Sometimes it means treating illness or injury. Sometimes it means rebuilding trust. Sometimes it simply means learning that food, safety, and kindness will still be there tomorrow.
Every dog has a story. Our responsibility is to help write what comes next.

Dr. Dog Animal Shelter operates in Limpio, Paraguay, through Asociación Civil SEBRA.
Its work is supported internationally by Non-Profit Dr. Dog Inc., a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
We are committed to using charitable support for its intended purpose and to providing appropriate documentation, financial information, photographs, project updates, and evidence of impact when requested by donors and partners.
Our responsibility is both to the people who place their trust in Dr. Dog and, above all, to the dogs whose lives depend on consistent care.
